Web Maintainer Page Layout Training for July, and Online Training

The Digital Team will offer a Page Layouts Workshop for web maintainers on Wednesday, July 18. In addition, the Fundamentals for Web Maintainers online training course continues to be available for all web maintainers.

The Fundamentals online course is for whenever a new web maintainer needs to be trained, or if any web maintainer wants a refresher on how to work on the website. Page Layouts is an advanced workshop for web maintainers who have already completed the Fundamentals course or who have equivalent skills. 

Registration is required for both the online course and the workshop.

You must already be a web maintainer in order to take the online course or attend the workshop. If unsure, please check the Web Maintainer list. If you are not listed, ask one of your site approvers to submit an ihelp ticket requesting that you be a site author or approver.

Space is limited for this workshop, and advance registration is required. Please register using the Web Training Workshop Registration Form.

Before taking the workshop, web maintainers should complete the Fundamentals for Web Maintainers online training course, or have equivalent knowledge about the basics of editing within the Ektron CMS.

Please make every effort to this workshop arrive on time, as it will be difficult to catch up those who arrive late and you may be asked to reschedule.

Why Attend Training?

Page Layouts Web Training will show web maintainers how to adjust and add to the layout of an existing web page on the IUP website, how to make a new web page (page layout) and a new section on your site, and how to work with collections. Website navigation and the IUP menu system will also be discussed.

The online Fundamentals for Web Maintainers course is available whenever a new web maintainer needs to be trained, or if any web maintainer wants a refresher on how to work on the website. The online course teaches the basics of editing the IUP website, including creating news posts, making links, adding photos, creating calendar events, uploading PDF files, and more. This D2L training course replaces the Basic Web Editing workshop previously offered by the Digital Team, although classroom training will still be offered if there is interest.

These training sessions are for maintainers of department and office websites within www.iup.edu. Make sure that your web editing privileges have been requested before you register for a training session. For a web maintainer to be added, one of the existing department/office website approvers should send a request to web-team@iup.edu, or file an ihelp ticket. Here is an up-to-date list of IUP web maintainers.

Please know your IUP user name and password at the time you arrive for training. Because there is much to cover during the training sessions, we aim to start on time. If you arrive late, you may have difficulty catching up and completing the workshop objectives.
