The Department of Foreign Languages hosted two events in September 2018 for incoming and current majors.
On September 7 the department hosted Spanish majors at an informal Open House. This event welcomed new freshmen majors and provided an opportunity for new and continuing majors to get to know each other and to meet current and retired department faculty
On Wednesday, September 12, the department hosted its annual Foreign Languages Programs and Activities Fair in HSS. Over 100 students and faculty were in attendance to listen to student speakers present on study abroad experiences and departmental programs.
Student speakers included: Daniel Wethli (Chinese and study abroad in Chengdu, China); Rebecca Maher, Tyler Schurr, and Wyatt Shank (French and study abroad in Nancy, France); Jay Clinton (German and study abroad in Graz, Austria); Kate Seale (German and study abroad in Duisburg, Germany); Rachel Mlinek (Spanish and study abroad in Valparaíso, Chile); Ryan Caldwell, Anthony Frontino, and Marissa McMahon (Spanish and study abroad in Valladolid, Spain),
and Ryan Caldwell (Spanish Education program).
Following the presentations, students had the opportunity to talk with the presenters and department faculty about the many opportunities that exist for foreign language study and study abroad at IUP.
