Professor
of Anthropology and Director of the Mid-Atlantic Research and Training Institute for Community and Behavioral Health Victor Garcia served as a reviewer in October for the
National Institutes of Health’s Health Disparities and Equity Promotion
study section. He joined the study section as a standing member in June
2018.
Prior to his nomination, he was an ad hoc member for three years. As a
study section member, he reviews several R series funding grant proposals three
times a year—in February, June, and October. Garcia was also a standing member
of the Community Influences on Health Behavior study section from 2008-2012.
Selection criteria for study section membership is based on success in being
awarded NIH grants, public health research, and a strong publication record.
