Amanda Poole (Anthropology) published a book chapter on the refugee university scholarship program in Ethiopia. Co-written with Jennifer Riggan (Arcadia University), this chapter explores the challenges facing Eritrean university students in Ethiopia, and the links between educational opportunities for refugees and secondary migration.

This chapter is a contribution to an edited volume titled Higher Education Challenges for Migrant and Refugee Students in a Global World, edited by Khalid Arar, Kussai Haj-Yehia, David Ross, and Yasar Kondakci. Published by Peter Lang, this book explores refugees and immigrants in higher education through case studies focused on Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and North America.

This edited volume “informs readers of theory, policy, and practice of refuge and migrant equitable access to higher education, especially indicating how policy makers, educational leaders, and practitioners can support refugees, asylum seekers, and other migrants’ inclusion in higher education institutions in the global world” (Arar et.al.).
