The IUP President's Commission on the Status of Women is happy to announce that Autumn Shannon, administrative assistant in the Dean’s office for
College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Susan Graham, IUP Clinical case manager in the Counseling Center, were selected to attend the Pennsylvania State System Women’s Consortium Leadership Institute for Professional and Staff Employees in
The Leadership Institute for Professional and Staff Women assist participants in developing leadership skills and strategies to advocate for gender equality within the State System. Participants design a project to implement on their own campuses that
will promote advocacy for women within their university communities. Faculty are also selected for summer institutes held alternately with the staff leadership institute.
Nina Minelli, theater major, and Isis Truxon, English education major, were also selected to attend the Pennsylvania Women's Undergraduate Women’s Leadership Institute. The Leadership Institute for Undergraduate Women provides a forum for the Pennsylvania
State System of Higher Education to nurture the leadership potential of women students. It creates an experience that empowers women as leaders, presents successful models of leadership through dialogue and collaboration, challenges women to realize
their full potential as leaders, and connects women with other women who are committed to social change.
The PASSHE Women's Consortium holds an annual conference and three leadership institutes and works to advocate for women staff, administrators, students, and faculty across
the State System.
