The wife of an IUP alumnus from Dover, York County, has continued to show devotion to her late husband’s alma mater by supporting Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s nursing students with a recent $30,000 gift.
Mary Ann Dickey’s gift, made in memory of her late husband Jim Dickey ’64, will be used to purchase a simulation manikin and to offset the cost of the kits required by IUP students pursuing their degree in nursing. Nursing students at IUP use the manikins
to practice important skills, including taking blood pressure readings and listening for vital sounds.
The kits, which range in price from $125 to $170, include essential items such as bandages, pupil lights, blood pressure cuffs, saline bags, and scissors, among other tools. The couple had previously given to IUP to support nursing initiatives.
