The Warrior Battalion held its Contracting and Commissioning Ceremony on August 29, 2019, in Fisher Auditorium. Summer graduates Daniel Gray, Kristi Newlen, Tristan Pilch, Ronald Reighard, and Zachary Raible took the oath to become commissioned Army officers.
The ceremony started with LTC Dennis Faulkner contracting 17 new cadets into the Warrior Battalion's ranks. Then, the five graduates got to partake in the traditional pinning of their gold bars and receive their first salute from an enlisted military member. Finally, LTC Faulkner gave them their oath to swear in as second lieutenants.
In attendance was Michael Dricsoll, John Kilmarx, and Pennsylvania State Representative James Struzzi.
The Department of Military Science commissioning ceremonies are held at the end of each semester if there is a soon-to-be-lieutenant graduating. The Warrior Battalion contracting ceremonies are a little different. We hold three per semester. These ceremonies are for cadets who take the next step to becoming Army officers. This contract allows them, after completing all commissioning requirements, to become second lieutenants upon graduation of college.
