The 2019 Researchers’ Reception takes place this Wednesday, October 2, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Ballroom.
The Researchers’ Reception is “open house” style and will again include networking opportunities, food, beverages, and the Crimson Cup Competition! This means the RI Crimson Cup is up for grabs (ownership of the engraved Cup for the year, bragging rights,
and up to $2,000 in research support funds).
Second place will receive a certificate and up to $1,000 in research support funds.
The College of Fine Arts is the current holder of the Cup. Will Dean Curt Scheib continue the winning streak of Fine Arts, or will another college defeat the sitting champion?
Because IUP’s Strategic Plan clearly states that increasing extramural activities is a priority, the criteria for the Cup competition includes not only attendance at the Reception, but proposals submitted and awards received. The factors that will determine
the winner (and runner up) of this year's Crimson Cup are as follows:
Percent of increase in the number of proposals submitted from FY2017–18 to FY2018–19 (worth 25 percent)
Percent of increase in the number of awards received from FY2017–18 to FY2018–19 (worth 25 percent)
Percent of attendance at the Researchers' Reception (worth 50 percent)
As always, we will obtain a list of faculty/staff by college from IUP’s Office of Human Resources to get a base from which to calculate percent of attendance. Please note that students (including student workers, graduate assistants, band members, and
immediate and extended family members) will not count toward your attendance numbers.
Thank you, and we look forward to another record-breaking Researchers’ Reception!
