Pao Ying Hsiao, PhD, RDN, LDN, associate professor in the
IUP Department of Food and Nutrition, along with June Fung (Dartmouth-Hitchcock
Medical Center), Diane Mitchell (Pennsylvania State University), Terryl
Hartman (Emory University), and Marlene Goldman (Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical
Center), published “Dietary quality, as measured by the Alternative Healthy
Eating Index for Pregnancy (AHEI-P), in couples planning their first pregnancy”
in Public Health Nutrition (May 2019).
This research study is the first to examine use of a dietary
assessment score, called the Alternative Healthy Eating Index for Pregnancy
score, and achievement of clinical pregnancy in nulliparous couples.
