Domestic Violence in College: What You Need to Know

Are you up to date on the latest information about Domestic Violence? October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, so we invite you to join the Haven Project and Theta Phi Alpha for a Domestic Violence in College presentation. 

When: Tuesday, October 15, 2019, from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m.Stop Domestic Abuse - purple ribbons

Location: HUB Susquehanna Room

Who can attend: It is free and open to anyone that is interested in attending.

Attendees will learn about:

  • Domestic violence
  • Unhealthy behaviors
  • Social media 
  • Barriers to leaving
  • Bystander intervention
  • Making a safety plan
  • Helping a friend leaving an abusive relationship
  • How to respond to a victim
  • Resources for help

Attendance vouchers will be available upon request.

Why is this important to IUP:

  • 57 percent of college students say dating abuse is difficult to identify.
  • 58 percent say they don’t know how to help someone experiencing dating abuse.
  • Over half (57 percent) of college students who self-reported said the dating violence and abuse occurred in college.
