Pearl Berman of the Psychology Department recently was the recipient of the Rosalie S. Wolf Memorial Elder Abuse Prevention Award. She received this award at the 24th
International Conference on Violence Abuse and Trauma Across the Lifespan, which took place in San Diego, California.
Rosalie S. Wolf, PhD, was the driving force behind the elder abuse prevention movement.
Berman helped the National Committee to Prevent Elder Abuse develop an undergraduate curriculum on elder abuse. She has integrated elder abuse into the interdisciplinary CAAST minor between the Psychology and Sociology departments at IUP and has been
helping universities in the United States and the Pacific Region integrate elder abuse into their own programming. She has also integrated elder abuse into both graduate and undergraduate textbooks.
