Gail Wilson's COMM 360 Digital Sports Production course to talk about his experience working for Sports Illustrated. London is a video producer for SI, where he researches and creates content for the program’s digital platform, including multiple social media sites. His focus is breaking news stories about the NBA and NFL.

During his presentation, London talked about how his IUP experiences added value to his education, including working at IUP-TV and WIUP-FM, as well as his internship at Voice of America, an opportunity he got through the Washington Center.

London emphasized the importance of networking, starting on-campus with other students and faculty. “Our alumni network is huge,” said London. “You get connected to IUP alumni by getting connected to your faculty, including the one sitting in the room with you now. It was through Dr. Wilson that I was able to meet an IUP graduate working at CNN, and that led to my first job out of my internship.”

London also pointed out the need for today’s communications graduates to be versatile. “You can’t do just one thing. Media companies need producers who can edit, writers who can produce, and everyone has to understand our multiple distribution systems online.”

Before joining Sports Illustrated, London worked for Bleacher Report, the NBA and CNN.
