The IUP Trombone Choir and Symphony Band (Christian Dickinson and Jason Worzbyt, conductors) will present a free concert in honor of Veterans Day on November 11 at 7:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium.
This concert will feature the music of several local composers, including IUP alumnus Dennis Cramer, Samuel R. Hazo, and the Pennsylvania premiere of Jeffrey Herwig’s “Freedom,” a work dedicated to members of the military coping with the effects of post-traumatic stress as a result of their tours overseas. Much of the program is dedicated to our military, celebrating all branches of the service as well as “America, the Beautiful.” Therese Wacker will be our featured piccolo soloist.
Members of the Homeless Heroes Stocking Project will be at the door collecting items that are in high demand by homeless veterans. These include: shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush holders, wash cloths, soap, soap dishes, $10 gift cards for Walmart and Giant Eagle, socks, and gloves. Please consider making a donation in honor of our veterans who have given their lives in service to our country.
