Musical theater students Lauren Eylicio, J’Quay Gibbs, Riley Guers, and Lindsay Herring successfully auditioned at the Southeastern Theatre Conference prescreening in West Virginia on Saturday, November 9, 2019.

These students are now eligible to audition for paid employment in summer stock and year-long theater companies as well as cruise ships, outdoor dramas, and Shakespeare festivals. Accompanied by Musical Theater program director Rob Gretta, all four students have been preparing audition pieces over the fall semester. All are currently enrolled in Gretta’s course Musical Theatre Auditioning,, in which they create a new song or monologue every week to build their audition rep book.

Every year, the Southeastern Theatre Conference brings over 5,000 members of the theater community together for three-and-a-half days of workshops, keynotes, performance festivals, auditions, college recruiting, job interviews, and more. Invitations and auditions at SETC are highly competitive.
