The Office of Residence Life is seeking motivated, full-time, tenured and tenure-track faculty to participate in the Faculty-in-Residence (FIR) program for the academic year 2020–21. The FIR program is designed to integrate a faculty member into residential
communities as an intellectual catalyst for the residential community experience.
FIRs work in close partnership with the Residence Life team to bridge students’ academic and residential experiences through formal and informal conversations, educational programming, and academic mentoring. For more details about FIR position, please
visit the Faculty-in-Residence web page.
Through participation in the FIR program, faculty members can gain deeper understanding of what the college experience is like for on-campus students, which in turn provides a new perspective on how to approach teaching and learning, as well as offering
new ways of scholarship.
As our first FIR who provided mentorship to students in Stephenson Hall during spring 2019, Michele Papakie says of her
experience, “…this was the most fun, exciting, and challenging thing I have ever done as a professor. I really enjoyed getting to know students on a much deeper level, and I would jump at a chance to do it again.”
The deadline to apply for a Faculty-in-Residence position is May 10, 2020. Apply Now!
To learn more information about this FIR position and hearing more about Papakie’s FIR experience, please RSVP to attend one of the Zoom informational sessions below.
