Graduate students must wear many hats. They exist in a go-between world where they are not quite students and not quite professionals. However, like the professionals, they are expected to contribute worthwhile scholarship to their field. This can be problematic because typically, attending conferences, creating experiments, and conducting basic research costs money—which is a commodity few graduate students possess. Grants can alleviate this problem by providing much-needed funds, but most grad students have no idea where to look for these opportunities.

That’s where we come in. The School of Graduate Studies and Research is hosting a workshop on how and where to find grant information. Come join Joshua Begley in the Allegheny Room on November 18 from 11:00 to 1:00 for a tutorial in researching grants. Lunch will be provided.

You must register to attend by e-mailing your name, department, and phone number to Joshua Begley at Register by November 14, 2008, to guarantee your seat at the workshop.
