The IUP Saxophone Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Keith Young, and the IUP Bass Ensemble, directed by Nathan Santos, will perform at the 2010 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Conference on April 22 in Pittsburgh.
The PMEA Conference is a three-day event attended by music educators from all across Pennsylvania. Student groups are selected to perform from a live-performance CD by a blind screening process.
The Saxophone Ensemble is directed by IUP Department of Music professor Dr. Keith Young and is made up of thirteen current music majors, including freshmen through seniors. The ensemble will perform at 8:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
Nathan Santos will be presenting a clinic on April 22 at 10:45 a.m. to demonstrate the variety of functions and techniques on the acoustic and electric bass. He will be assisted by IUP students Kevin Huhn, Tony Grande, and Brennan Proud. Santos teaches double bass and string methods at IUP.
The IUP Department of Music is a sustaining member of PMEA and consistently has faculty and students perform and present clinics at the annual conference.
