The Safety Sciences Department has had a student chapter of the ASSP for more than 20 years and has won the Outstanding ASSP Student Section five times during that time period. All students are encouraged to participate, and approximately 100 students currently are involved.
The chapter sponsors monthly meetings where safety and health professionals speak to the group about a variety of safety and health issues. In addition, this chapter also completes a variety of community services, including a CPR Day and a School Bus Safety Training Program for local elementary schools.
