John Mueller, a retired faculty member in the Student Affairs in Higher Education department, was recently granted emeritus status after 22 years of service to the university.
The emeritus title is given to qualified retired faculty and academic administrators who have been recommended through a department-based process to the Academic Committee of the University Senate.
John Mueller was a professor in the department from 1999 to 2022 and served as department chair from 2020 to 2022. During his time with IUP, he worked closely with ACPA and equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts across the country. He served in IUP's Safe Zone program and did exemplary work to promote racial justice throughout his entire career. Much of his research focused on social justice and student development.
