When you enroll at IUP, you join a family for life. The IUP Alumni Association has made possible two scholarships for students, but they came about in different ways.
The IUP Alumni Legacy Scholarship, which funds freshman-year tuition for 10 children or grandchildren of IUP alumni, has benefited Matthew Conjelko. The son of Matthew Conjelko ’86, M’91 and Mary-Margaret Wiker Conjelko M’95, he is pursuing degrees in economics and Spanish.
Years ago, the Mattern family designated an estate gift that placed in the hands of the IUP Alumni Association Board of Directors the power to create more impact. The board honored the family by using the gift to support initiatives and scholarships in the College of Education and Communications through what is now known as the Roy and Erma J. Mattern Memorial Fund. Jenna Kradel, a first-generation college student, received the scholarship.
