Learning
transfer refers to the ability of students to take knowledge, skills, and
strategies gained in an educational setting and adapt it to a variety of
contexts (educational, civic, professional, and personal). While educators
recognize the critical importance of transfer as a
core goal of education, researchers have long documented the challenge that
students of all levels have in transferring knowledge across contexts. This
interactive workshop introduces participants to the principles of learning
transfer and offers an opportunity to consider how to build learning transfer
into courses and curricula across the disciplines.
Participants are
encouraged to bring their syllabus and course materials to this workshop.
