academic life has undeniable joys, but the seemingly endless tasks associated
with quality teaching, service, and scholarship can leave faculty members

first, faculty professional development experts urge faculty to pay
attention to their own self-care so they can offer the most to their students.
In this applied and experiential workshop, participants will assess their own
wellness using a five factor wellness inventory (access to the inventory and
workbooks will be purchased for participants by the Center for Teaching
Excellence); understand the value of intentional self-care; experience a
variety of wellness techniques including yoga, meditation, exercise, and
healthy eating; create a wellness toolkit; and receive a wellness
workbook. This faculty wellness workshop will be led by Dr. Lorraine J.
Guth, Professor and Clinical Coordinator for Master’s Programs, IUP Department
of Counseling, with guest experts leading practice in a variety of wellness
techniques.
