Enhance Your Skills to Set Sights on Your Music Career Goals
Take your musical passion to the next level with a master's in music.
You'll receive advanced training in conducting, instrumental performance, or vocal performance from faculty members who have years of professional performance to their credit.
With a master's in music, you can polish your performing abilities to a professional level, learn to rehearse and conduct ensembles, reach your potential as a musician, prepare for auditions, and solidify your credentials as a private instructor.
Imagine Your Future
Among the musical professions you'll be equipped to take on are: a musician in or conducting in orchestras, operas, military bands, musical theater, or recording studios; a college-level faculty member; and an owner of a music studio.
Recent IUP Music MA graduates have performed in Broadway productions and military and college bands, and have taught at major universities across the country.
Classes and Requirements
The main component of the program is intensive, private lessons with our talented faculty. Three core courses in music theory, history, and research will deepen your understanding of these disciplines and encourage you to dive further into them. Elective courses are available in your area of interest.
Students in this program participate in ensembles in leadership roles, with conducting students receiving regular podium time. The program culminates in an on-campus recital.
