IUP Applied Archaeology MA Program alumni Angela Jaillet-Wentling and Samantha Taylor recently published their research on the archaeological site of Pandenarium. Pandenarium was an antebellum, free, African American village in Mercer County.
Angela and Samantha conducted separate thesis research projects at the site to begin to identify the site boundaries and to investigate life at one of the identified houses. They have also conducted extensive historical research and begun collaborating with the descendants of the town’s residents.
Angela and Samantha recently brought their research together to publish an article in the journal Historical Archaeology. Historical Archaeology is the premier journal for historical archaeology research.
Angela serves as Cultural Resource Program Coordinator for Pennsylvania DCNR Bureau of Parks and Samantha Taylor is an archaeologist with New South Associates.
