This is part of #EberlyAmazingStudents, a series from the IUP Eberly College of Business and Information Technology that focuses on students who are involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities.
Derrin Dietz is an active member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and a senior supply chain management major. During my talk with Derrin, I discovered why he became a Crimson Hawk.
"I chose to attend IUP for the outstanding reputation the Eberly College of Business has. I had multiple friends graduate form IUP who had nothing but great experiences both professionally and socially. It was a no-brainer to make the choice to further my education at IUP!"
Derrin is originally from the Fox Chapel Area, which is about 15 minutes north of Pittsburgh. He first heard of IUP through his friends and family. After hearing about their experiences and professional career development, he knew IUP was for him and started his studies here in Eberly.
Derrin has had many experiences during his time in Eberly. "Studying in Eberly College has been nothing but a great experience. The professors are always there to help you out in any way possible. They go above and beyond by planning trips to companies and warehouses as well as networking events to professionally advance your career. The clubs offered by the Eberly College student body have also played a big part in my professional development. I am a member of the PGN Business Fraternity as well as the APICS Supply Chain Club. These organizations opened up countless opportunities for networking and enhancing my professional skills," explained Derrin.
Derrin is a four-year member of Phi Kappa Psi. During those years, he held the positions of vice president and recruitment chair, and helped out tremendously with philanthropy. Derrin chose Phi Kappa Psi because of the bond the brothers have with each other. There is nothing comparable.
Some of the core values and beliefs thatDerrin believes in are integrity, accountability, diligence, perseverance, and discipline. Along with these qualities he tries to follow and uphold his favorite quote is "Work Hard Play Hard."
Being a member of Phi Kappa Psi, APICS Supply Chain Club, and the PGN Business Fraternity, he has been able to grow into these core values and become the business professional that will make him successful in his upcoming future. Upon graduation, he plans to enter into a management position where he will grow and thrive.
