Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Timothy Moerland announced the transition of the Career and Professional Development Center into the Division of Academic Affairs.
As part of this move, the Office of Extended Studies has joined the CPDC in Pratt Hall, with Michael Husenits as the coordinator. "Mike will continue to handle field experience agreements and state authorization," CPDC Director Tammy Manko said, "and will add WEDnetPA and noncredit workshops and training to his duties."
The CPDC also recently welcomed two new staff members to the department. Lucas Chakot M'15 will serve as assistant director of employer development and will work to grow relationships with employers and actively pursue internship development and entry-level employment opportunities for IUP students and graduates as well as advance relationships with employers in the Pittsburgh region and beyond.
Angela Martinelli came to the CPDC in November from Oregon State University to oversee budgets and coordinate the Office of Service Learning until its transition to Student Affairs, as well as assist with professional training and adult enrichment courses through Extended Studies.
Manko said, "Including the Office of Extended Studies in the Career and Professional Development Center and adding Mike, Lucas, and Angela to our team will enhance the department's mission to assist students and alumni to develop lifelong career planning and job search skills and career opportunities."
