The Health and Physical Education program in the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Science held an all-day conference for certified teachers from around western Pennsylvania. The training included sessions on inclusion and adapted physical education, grant writing and securing community partnerships, examining the new state standards in HPE, and teaching outdoor education pursuits.
Thirty-five teachers were in attendance, including 25 alumni from IUP. Students in the HPE program also attended and were able to network with veteran teachers. This conference is an annual event that partners with the ARIN Intermediate Unit 28 to provide Act 48 hours for attendees.
