As a conclusion to National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, IUP held the sixteenth annual Cybersecurity Day on October 31, 2023, sponsored by the PC4A Project, IUP IT Support, and the IUP Mathematical and Computer Sciences Department.
Cybersecurity Day at IUP is a day-long event that features nationally recognized speakers from government, industry and academia, offering participants an opportunity to learn more about vital cybersecurity topics from experts in the field. Waleed Farag, director of the IUP Institute for Cybersecurity, is responsible for the organization, planning, and hosting of the event.
Students and faculty from Butler County Community College, Montgomery County Community College, Penn Highlands County Community College, and Westmoreland County Community College were able to attend Cybersecurity Day with funds provided by DoDSTEM through the PC4A Project.
Event organizers would like to sincerely thank esteemed guest speakers Louie Lopez (director, DoDSTEM), Star Hardison (chief of Cyber Workforce, US Dept. of Defense), CJ Maciag (director of Integrated Sensors and Cyber for the DoD), Derek Mueller (cybersecurity advisor, US Dept. of Homeland Security), Tom Dugas (associate VP and chief information security officer, IUP), Bill Balint (chief information officer, IUP), Todd Cunningham, executive director of Information Technology Services, IUP), Raju Namburu (chief technology officer, US Army Information Technology Lab), and Dom Glavach (chief security and technology officer, CyberSN) for their insightful and engaging presentations.
