On November 13, 2024, the IUP Institute for Cyber Security hosted Kevin Davis, division supervisor of the Naval Supply Systems Command Business Systems Center, Employment Engagement Division.

Davis met with Steven Hovan, dean of the Kopchik College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics; Timothy Flowers, chair of the IUP Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences; and  Waleed Farag, director of the IUP Institute for Cyber Security; as well as IUP faculty, staff, and students, to learn more about current programs being offered by the IUP Institute for Cyber Security, including the Department of Defense Cyber Academy (CSA) scholarship program and the PA Community College Consortium Cooperative Agreement. Davis also offered a presentation to students titled “Accelerating Digital Solutions” and met with recipients of the CSA scholarship.

This is the third time representatives from NAVSUP have visited IUP in less than two years, showcasing the collaboration between IUP and various DoD agencies. Farag has worked extensively with government representatives to cultivate relationships and identify internship and employment opportunities for computer science students. “I am grateful that NAVSUP, along with many other DoD agencies, have shown continued interest in collaborating with us,” said Farag. “These collaborations are vitally important to not only open doors for our students but to assist IUP’s efforts in strengthening the cybersecurity workforce in our country.”
