The President's Commission on Diversity and Inclusion is appointed by the president and charged with examining diversity and inclusion practices, recommending a vision for diversity and inclusion to the president, recommending high-impact action steps, and assessing the implementation of those action steps. IUP Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient Selected for Inaugural Keepers of the Flame Award

Debra Evans Smith, a 1981 IUP criminology graduate who received the university’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2022, will be honored on November 4 during the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summit for her longstanding contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at IUP.

The Black Experience at IUP: Improve It with Your Voice

Black students, faculty, and staff are invited to join a discussion with an IUP alumni committee that aims to improve the academic success and social experience of Black students at IUP. Kicking off Homecoming weekend, this Fireside Chat with the Black Experience Alumni Committee will be Thursday, September 30, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Elkin Hall Great Room.
