Frequently asked questions about the Major and Career Exploration Center
What services are provided at the Major and Career Exploration Center?
We offer the FOCUS-2 test, several interest inventories, and a resource library, to name a few services. Check out a complete list of services offered on our Related Sites page!
Where can I get a list of undergraduate majors offered at IUP?
Are there any tests that I can take to help me decide on a major?
Yes. We have the FOCUS-2 test that can be taken here in the MCEC that analyzes your personal interests and talents and gives you information on the careers that best match you. This test is offered at no charge. We also offer an assessment that is based on Carl Jung and Isabel Briggs Myers’ personality type theory, commonly known as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.
Where do I go to change my major?
Students seeking to change their major can process their request via MyIUP. Please log in to your portal, click on the Academic section, then scroll down to the Modify Academic Record section. You will see a link titled Change your primary major. Click on that and fill out the form. Once you hit Submit the request will be sent to the academic department you are seeking to join. When approved, you will receive an email with additional information. Please note: if you are a first-semester freshman and are processing this request during the semester, your change of major decision will be processed after you have posted your first semester GPA.
