The IUP Economics Club wishes to thank the alumni and other guest speakers who met with students during the fall 2024 semester! From each one, students learned valuable insights about career pathways, tips for greater academic success, and networking suggestions.

November 12: Anthony Maticic ’19 is a manager of forensic accounting, valuation, and litigation support services at Gleason Experts. He graduated from IUP as a Cook Honors College student with dual undergraduate degrees of a BA in economics/honors and a BS in accounting. Anthony is currently enrolled in the master of finance program at Penn State University. He is a published econometrician/author on fertility rate and economic development. Prior to his transition to forensic accounting and valuation services, Anthony was a Big 4 auditor specializing in industrial manufacturing and energy with experience in financial services and technology.

October 16: Graduate School Night with James J. Jozefowicz. This annual Economics Club event includes a discussion of tips for applying to a broad range of graduate programs and taking advantage of the opportunities available both on and off campus to distinguish oneself from other graduate school applicants.

September 17: Christine Schmidt ’06, M’07 is vice president and product manager lead with the Deposits Center of Excellence at PNC Bank. She graduated from IUP with a double major in finance and economics in 2006 and earned her MBA from IUP in 2007. Christine has been a certified project management professional since 2015. For more than 15 years at PNC, Christine has performed various risk management functions related to identifying, evaluating, mitigating, and monitoring risks across the organization.

September 11: Economics Club Welcome Back Pizza Party

The mission of the Economics Club is to promote the interest and understanding of economics among students, to provide opportunities for students to participate in projects benefiting the university community while increasing their own knowledge of economics, and to bring students and faculty members together in an informal social environment. Membership in this organization is open to all members of the IUP community. Jim Jozefowicz currently serves as faculty advisor for the club.
