The Student Managed Investment Portfolio organization just wrapped up another successful semester in fall 2024.

SMIP members attending the December 3 club meeting.

  • The club welcomed numerous new members as analysts, many of them first-semester freshmen, who brought renewed energy to the organization.
  • Chief Investment Officer Chloe Stoner, Portfolio Manager Ethan Duguid, and Chief Compliance Officer Caleb Johnson led two presentations on the portfolio’s performance to the Foundation for IUP’s Investment Committee and made two other presentations on risk mitigation at FIUP board meetings.
  • The club also welcomed IUP alumnus Jack Alexander, principal at Jack Alexander and Associates, LLC, a business management consulting firm headquartered in North Carolina, as a guest speaker in October.
  • Finally, SMIP welcomed its new CIO, Gabe Kengersky, and its new PM, Brayden Landherr, who will take over the leadership of the club in the spring. Numerous new sector leaders were also appointed to fill spots vacated by outgoing seniors.

The Student Managed Investment Portfolio directly involves students managing assets provided by the Foundation for IUP upwards of $1 million in US equities. With collaboration and fiduciary oversight by the Foundation for IUP, Eberly College of Business delivers this opportunity to improve students’ skill sets applicable to financial services or a multitude of business fields. Student members are not registered investment advisors and do not receive compensation for their work; however, they gain the working knowledge that industry professionals seek from incoming job candidates. Todd Potts currently serves as faculty advisor for the club.
