Matthew Vetter (faculty, English Composition and Applied Linguistics) recently gave a keynote presentation, "Wikipedia for Open Education: Pedagogy, Information Literacy, and Knowledge Equity," at OpenCon 2020 Cleveland, held at Cleveland State University on February 28.
OpenCon is an interdisciplinary conference devoted to Open Educational Resources and practices.
Vetter's talk forwarded the argument that Wikipedia itself, as a free and open access encyclopedia, is indispensable to open education initiatives in postsecondary institutions. To demonstrate, Vetter shared case studies in research and practice across three areas related to pedagogy, information literacy, and knowledge equity. Furthermore, for each area, Vetter provided experience-based, data-driven recommendations for effective implementation.
Vetter's keynote was sponsored by OhioNet.
