Chris Clouser, IUP Libraries' collection development librarian, will be receiving the New Investigator Award from IUP's Research Institute for his role as principal investigator on PA GOAL (Pennsylvania Grant for Open and Affordable Learning). This grant, co-authored by Kelly Heider and Theresa McDevitt, saved IUP students $32,604 in textbook costs.
Clouser, Heider, and McDevitt worked with faculty from the departments of Communication Disorders, Special Education, and Disability Services; Counseling; Criminology and Criminal Justice; History; Nursing and Allied Health Professions; Professional Studies in Education; and Theatre, Dance, and Performance to reduce student expenses by replacing high-cost commercial textbooks with subscriptions to e-textbooks that can be accessed simultaneously by unlimited users through the library.
Clouser's significant contribution to this grant and the student survey that followed will be honored at a reception at the KCAC on April 3 during Research Appreciation Week.
