In recognition of the American Library Association's Banned Book Week from October 1 to 7, the IUP Libraries, in collaboration with the English Graduate Organization and the Social Equity and Title IX Office, are hosting a series of events.
Banned Book Readout
The annual Banned Book Readout will be held on Wednesday, October 4, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the atrium on the first floor of Stapleton Library. Visit the library for food, prizes, and an opportunity (if you choose) to read from your favorite banned book. Feel free to bring your own reading or choose from a selection of readings that will be available at the event.
If you don't feel like reading, just come to hear excerpts from well-known banned titles, and join us in celebrating our freedom to read!
Graduate Student Banned Books Panel Discussion
On Thursday, October 5, from noon to 1:30 p.m. the English Graduate Organization will host a panel discussion where graduate students will discuss research related to the censorship and banning of books. This event will take place in the atrium on the first floor of Stapleton Library.
