If you're looking to have a little ghoulish fun this Halloween, visit the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the Stapleton Library to pick up a Ghost Hunting Kit. These kits contain everything a paranormal investigator needs:
- SBox: A spirit box utilizes radio frequency sweeps to generate white noise from existing FM and AM bands which theories suggest may provide an entity with the energy it needs to be heard. When this occurs you may hear voices or sounds coming through the static in their attempt to communicate.
- EVP Recorder: Audio recorders are handy tools for documenting activity during paranormal research. Many ghost hunters and paranormal investigators consider them to be a staple investigation tool for recording electronic voice phenomena, or EVP, from a potential spirit.
- EMF Meter: An EMF meter measures fluctuations in electromagnetic fields. Electromagnetic fields surround us at all times, and theories from within the branch of paranormal investigations suggest that ghosts may have the ability to manipulate these fields.
- Flashlight: A sturdy, reliable flashlight is essential for navigating dark locations safely. Some ghost hunters also use flashlights as a rudimentary tool for communication, asking spirits to turn them on or off.
