On November 6, 2021, IUP education students attended the Western Pennsylvania Pre-Service Teacher Day at Duquesne University.
Pre-Service Teacher Day is an event sponsored by the Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Pennsylvania Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators and gives students an opportunity to build their professional career by networking with pre-service and practicing teachers from across Pennsylvania and exchanging ideas, resources, experiences, and best practices.
IUP students were lead by professors Yong Colen and Valerie Long of the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences. The students who attended are members of IUP-Preservice Teachers of Mathematics, an IUP student organization whose purpose is to provide leadership, service, and programs for preservice elementary and secondary mathematics education students at IUP. Also attending were students from Long's MATH 320 (Mathematics for Early Childhood) class.
