The S-COAM program is offering two workshops on using MATLAB, a programming and numeric computing platform used to analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models.

The workshop will be presented by Yu-Ju Kuo of the Mathematical and Computer Sciences Department. Both workshops will be held in Stright Hall room 220.

MATLAB/Octave Workshop I: The Basics of MATLAB/Octave

  • January 31,  3:10–4:40 p.m.
  • This workshop will cover the basics of using MATLAB/Octave, including working with vectors and matrices, defining mathematical functions, plotting graphs of functions, and creating animations.

MATLAB/Octave Workshop II:  Simulation and Publishing in MATLAB

  • February 7,  3:10–4:40 p.m.
  • This workshop will cover basic statistical functions and random number generators, and then demonstrate how to do simulations of stochastic processes. The second part of this workshop will discuss how to create a GUI and interactive notebooks.

Since computer space is limited in Stright 220, if you are interested in either workshop, please sign up online.
