Francisco Alarcón of the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences has been selected to serve a four-year term on the Haimo Teaching Award by the Mathematical Association of America.
The Deborah and Franklin Haimo Award is the highest teaching honor bestowed by the MAA. The award was established in 1993, and every year up to three individuals are selected for the award. The recipients must have been widely recognized as having demonstrated extraordinarily successful teaching effectiveness and having influence beyond their own institution. At least one recipient must be a recipient of the teaching award for their own section of the MAA.
The mission of the MAA is to advance the understanding of mathematics and its impact on our world.
The Mathematical Association of America is the world’s largest community of mathematicians, students, and enthusiasts. It furthers the understanding of our world through mathematics because mathematics drives society and shapes our lives.
