Two outstanding IUP Community Music School instructors will be giving their senior recitals in November.

Laura Hopf, SaxophoneThe first recital will be presented by Laura Hopf on saxophone, in partial fulfillment of a bachelor of music education degree, with a secondary concentration in oboe and a minor in Spanish.  It takes place at at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, in Gorell Recital Hall, 2nd floor of Sutton Hall. She will be performing on soprano, alto, and baritone saxophones, as well as oboe.

The program includes Prelude, Cadence, et. Finale by Alfred Desenclos; Divertimento by Roger Boutry; Quartet for Saxophones by Elliot Del Borgo; Garden of Love by Jacob Tv; Daemon Irrepit Callidus by Gyorgy Or, arr. Leo Prezioso; Sanctus, D 56, by Franz Schubert, arr. Eric Vireton; Italian Dance by Madeleine Dring; and Black by Marc Mellits.

She will be assisted by Jacquelyn Kuehn, piano; Graceann Bush and Annaleigh Spade, oboes; and Lexi Pursel, Hayden Rudd, and Leo Prezioso, saxophones.

Originally from Springfield, PA, in her spare time Laura enjoys reading, baking, and hiking.

Leo Prezisos, SaxophoneThe second recital is by Leo Prezioso as he meets the requirements for music education and music performance degrees. It takes place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, also in Gorell Recital Hall.

His program consists of Scaramouche, Mvt. III, Brazileira, by Darius Milhoud; Concerto for Alto Saxophone, Mvt. I, Song: Fire in the Earth, by David Maslanka; Sonata in C#, Mvt. I, Très modéré, Expressif by Fernande Decruck; Night Bird for Alto Saxophone and Electronics by Karen Tanaka; and Le cygne ("The Swan") by Camille Saint-Saëns.

Assisting Leo is Jacquelyn Kuehn on piano, as well as his "Sax Pistols" saxophone quartet, comprised of Leo, Laura Hopf, Hayden Rudd, and Alexis Pursel.

Leo is from Canonsburg, PA, and after graduating this Spring, plans to begin teaching, followed by master's and doctorate degrees in music education, with the ultimate goal of teaching in higher education.
