IUP Masters of Arts in Performance graduate SIcheng He will give a solo recital this Friday, March 3, at 7:00 p.m., in Gorell Recital Hall (second floor of Sutton). The program will include works by Scarlatti, Haydn, Liszt, Guarnieri, and Stockhausen. Admission is free.
He graduated from IUP in May 2020 and is a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at James Madison University, studying with Brazilian pianist Paulo Steinberg. He is also a teaching assistant at JMU, teaching undergraduate class piano and serving as a vocal coach and collaborative pianist. A native of China, SIcheng received his undergraduate degree from Shenyang Conservatory, studying with Professor Yiyin Zhang, and his Master of Arts in Performance degree from IUP, studying with Henry Wong Doe. While a student at IUP, Sicheng worked with students at the IUP Community Music School.
He will give a masterclass to pre-college students from the Indiana area and IUP piano majors on Saturday, March 4, at 11:00 a.m. in Cogswell Room 120.
