Liam Wooding, a doctoral candidate at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, and a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California–San Diego, will perform a solo piano recital on Monday, October 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Gorell Recital Hall (second floor of Sutton Hall). Admission is free.
Described as possessing a “chameleon-like ability with keyboard colour” and a “technical ease and naturalness” (Radio New Zealand), New Zealand Māori pianist Liam Wooding is quickly becoming one of New Zealand’s top classical pianists.
Wooding’s program will include works by New Zealand composer Jenny McLeod and Franz Liszt’s Sonata in B minor. He will also give a masterclass to IUP piano students on Tuesday, October 3, at 2:20 p.m. in Cogswell Hall, Room 120.
