The Management Services Group is an umbrella organization for outreach programs of the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology. It aims to make a significant contribution to the economic vitality of the region by providing service to ongoing and startup businesses, both profit and nonprofit.
“The annual economic impact of the clients served by the MSG has been significant to the region,” Dr. Robert Camp, dean of the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology, said.
The group provides specialty business services through the following units:
- Center for Family Business
- Excellence in Entrepreneurial Leadership Center (ExcEL)
- Government Contracting Assistance Program
- Small Business Development Center
- Small Business Incubator
- Small Business Institute
Personnel from these units work in collaboration with regional entities concerned with business and economic development, including the banking community, Indiana County commissioners, Indiana County Chamber of Commerce, Indiana County Office of Planning and Development, Center for Economic Operations, Indiana County Development Corporation, workforce investment boards, and other local, county, and regional officials and consortiums.
A special feature of the Management Services Group is that it gives undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to apply what they've learned in academic settings to real-world issues. Students actively participate, under the guidance of faculty members, in analyzing company issues and establishing and developing business plans and solutions.
