Almost 300 Indiana University of Pennsylvania students have registered to provide community service at five sites on April 8 for the spring Into the Streets event.
IUP's Office of Service Learning organizes this biannual event, which is part of a national program to encourage university members to be active in their local communities. Each fall and spring, the office invites local nonprofit organizations to apply for help from students.
This spring, students will do service at the YMCA of Indiana County's Miracle League from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.; with the Evergreen Conservancy at the Tanoma wetlands from 9:00 a.m. to noon; with the Indiana Garden Club at the convergence of East Pike and Route 286 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; with the Indiana Community Garden and Seedling Project at the Indiana Community Gardens from 10:00 a.m. to noon; and will do cleanup in the downtown Indiana area for Downtown Indiana Inc. from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
