Indiana University of Pennsylvania is ranked as one of the top universities in the nation in the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College 2017 Ranking.
The ranking is based on four categories: resources, engagement, outcomes, and environment. Editors selected these categories to address the “questions that matter the most when choosing a university.” In addition to nationally reported data from the university, the rankings also include student surveys.
IUP ranked in the top 20 percent of all institutions for engagement, which includes a measurement of student engagement, student recommendations, student interaction, and breadth of opportunities for involvement.
IUP also ranked highly in the environment category, which measured international students, student diversity, faculty diversity, and student inclusion.
This recognition follows IUP's inclusion in US News and World Report's “Best National Universities,” selection as one of “America's Top Colleges” by Forbes magazine, and inclusion in the “Best Colleges for Your Money 2017–18” by Money magazine. IUP has been included in the Princeton Review's“Best Colleges” guidebook for more than a decade, is ranked as a “socially responsible school” by Washington Monthly, and has been ranked highly by other publications, including Military Times as a “Best for Vets” university.
