Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Department of Marketing has been ranked as one of the top programs in marketing in the nation by Study.com.
Editors considered hundreds of universities across the country and selected top programs based on academic and career resources, the quality of education, faculty, accessibility and affordability, tuition prices, student retention, graduation rates, types of degree programs available, student opportunities for professional development and campus involvement, and specialized university centers dedicated to marketing.
In the recognition of the program, editors described IUP's Marketing Department as “top-notch,” and praised IUP's Eberly College of Business and Information Technology for “emphasizing global awareness” and “making study abroad opportunities readily available and affordable through scholarships and partnerships with business schools in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.”
Editors also noted that graduate students at IUP can pursue an MBA or Executive MBA with a concentration track in marketing, and that “the MBA program is unique in that it can also count as a graduate degree in marketing, which can help showcase a unique achievement on your resume.”
The bachelor's degree program in marketing includes business administration core courses, which cover the spectrum of functional areas in business, and a number of courses in the major, such as Social Media Marketing, Brand Design, Consumer Behavior, Marketing Strategy, Marketing Research, and several other courses in contemporary areas of marketing. The program also offers a minor in marketing for all majors.
Students are encouraged to complete an internship during their junior or senior year, and a number of student organizations are available to join: the Student Marketing Association (the IUP collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association, the premier organization for networking with other professionals), the International Business Association, the Management Association, Phi Beta Lambda honor society, Phi Gamma Nu honor society, Pi Omega Pi honor society, the Student Accounting Association, the Society for Human Resource Management, and Students in Free Enterprise.
Students can also be part of the Eberly College's Small Business Development Center, the IUP ExcEL Center (Excellence in Entrepreneurial Leadership), along with many alumni networking events staged throughout the year.
IUP is consistently ranked as one of the nation's top doctoral universities by U.S. News & World Report. It has been included in the Princeton Review's Best Colleges guidebook for 18 years and has been included in Washington Monthly magazine's national rankings of schools based on their contributions to society. Individual programs and departments continue to gain accolades in national surveys, including in the top three safety, health, and environmental applied sciences programs in the nation by Universities.com.
IUP also has been selected for national rankings that recognize value in online programs.
U.S. News & World Report recognized three IUP programs—the master's program in criminal justice, master's program in mathematics education, and master's program in nursing—for its “Best Online Programs” for 2021. EduRef.net, a nationally recognized provider of college planning resources, named IUP to its “10 Most Affordable Accredited Online Colleges” ranking for 2020.
IUP offers more than 140 undergraduate majors and more than 60 graduate programs, including 14 doctoral programs. In addition, students can complete more than 65 minors and scores of specialized tracks and certificate programs, including certificates in athletic coaching, gerontology, photography and digital imaging, popular music, and public history.
