Khadija Zakki, a student in Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Geography-Geographical Information Science and Geospatial Technology master’s program originally from Guelmim, Morocco, has received a grant from the Institute of International Education designed to help international students continue their studies when a natural disaster, war, or other crisis happen in their home countries.

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Morocco on September 8.

Zakki is IUP’s tenth international student to receive this funding. The IIE scholarship requires an application from the home institution and is awarded to a very limited number of qualified students throughout the United States.

Zakki is the recipient of an IUP graduate scholarship and an International Student Fellowship. She participated in the university’s Unity Day and International Education Week events.
