Following a national search, Jennifer DeAngelo, who has more than 15 years of fundraising and advancement experience, has been selected to serve as the vice president for university advancement at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
DeAngelo will begin work at IUP on July 8.
“Jennifer has a proven track record of success in all facets of university advancement, including fundraising and successful engagement with alumni and friends,” IUP President Michael Driscoll said. “She brings a great deal of energy and respect for and commitment to IUP’s mission as an institution focused on student success. I look forward to the impact that she will make as a member of my cabinet in her leadership role for the Division of University Advancement,” he said.
“I want to thank the members of the search committee for their outstanding work, including co-chairs Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Tom Segar and Dean of the Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Dr. Steve Hovan, for their diligence and success in identifying the right candidates for the position. I also want to thank members of the IUP and area community who made time to meet with Jennifer during the interview process and provide comments about the candidates to the search committee. This feedback has been an important part of the decision-making process,” he said.
“Jennifer Dunsmore has done an excellent job as the interim vice president of the Division of University Advancement, and on behalf of the entire university, I express my appreciation for her service in this role,” President Driscoll said. Dunsmore will return to her position as assistant vice president for Alumni and Constituent Engagement.
IUP’s Division of University Advancement includes the offices of Alumni and Constituent Engagement, Development and Fundraising, Strategic Partnerships, Engagement and University Events, and Advancement Services.

DeAngelo comes to IUP from York College of Pennsylvania, where she was assistant vice president for college development.
In this role, she successfully launched York College’s first comprehensive campaign in the 230-year history of the institution, leading a team that raised $92 million towards a goal of $50 million and increased alumni giving by almost 60 percent during a five-year period. She was responsible for raising the largest gift in York College’s history to support a new environmental horticulture program and center.
Prior to her position as assistant vice president at York College, she was the senior director of development there, responsible for managing both the planned giving and principal giving programs. She also created and implemented an estate giving plan.
DeAngelo also works as fundraising consultant, with clients including public libraries, a healthcare agency, and a university outside Pennsylvania.
She was the director of annual giving and advancement services and database administrator at Lock Haven University, where she redesigned the annual giving plan, resulting in a 36 percent increase in philanthropic donations. She also restructured the annual phone-a-thon, resulting in an increase of more than 300 percent from the previous year.
She oversaw the processing, recording, and receipting of all gifts to the Lock Haven Foundation, provided oversight of all database processes and ensured integrity of database information, and generated and analyzed reports on giving activity, constituents, and fundraising appeals.
She spent almost 10 years at Penn State University as a team member for the Office of Athletic Development and Director of Athletics, part of a team responsible for a $300 million campaign and for crafting the intercollegiate athletics strategic plan.
She is a graduate of Penn State University and holds CFRE Accreditation with the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
She and her husband are the parents of a college-age daughter.
