The national accolades continue for Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Five IUP graduate programs have been ranked as best in the nation by Intelligent.com, an independent, national platform designed to provide students with informed resources on rankings and career guides.

IUP’s nationally ranked programs are:

  • Online master’s program in health services, seventh in the nation
  • Online master’s program in criminology, eighth in the nation;
  • Online master’s program in nutrition, thirteenth in the nation;
  • Criminal Justice master’s program, ranked twenty-ninth in the nation;
  • Online master’s program in educational technology, ranked thirty-ninth in the nation

Programs were chosen for the ranking based on academic quality, graduation rates, cost and return on investment, and student resources. The editors used information from the US Department of Education’s College Scorecard, U.S. News & World Report, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics to ensure that only institutions and programs with a proven track record of academic excellence and strong student outcomes receive recognition.

This recognition follows the IUP’s selection in September for U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Colleges” ranking and for the magazine’s “Top Public Schools” listing and IUP’s inclusion in the Princeton Review’s Best Colleges 2025, which recognizes IUP’s commitment to student success, individualized support, and the diversity and welcoming environment of the IUP community.

IUP offers 100 undergraduate majors and more than 60 graduate programs. In addition, students can complete more than 70 minors—including a unique teamwork minor—and scores of specialized tracks and certificate programs, including certificates in athletic coaching, preschool education, geospatial intelligencephotography and digital imaging, popular music, and public history.

IUP has a longstanding commitment to research on all levels and in all disciplines. In 2021, IUP was selected as one of only two public universities in Pennsylvania and one of only 93 public universities in the United States selected for the “High Research Activity” designation by the American Council on Education.

In addition to Intelligent.com, U.S. News & World Report, and the Princeton Review, IUP is routinely selected by national publications and websites for excellence, including College Magazine’s “top 10 colleges and universities in Pennsylvania; Washington Monthlys national ranking of universities based on contributions to society; in Forbes Magazine as one of “America’s Top Colleges;” as the number two most affordable college in Pennsylvania by Academic Influence; and in a number of rankings for excellence and affordability of online programs.
